Blog Week 2

My first week of playing NHL 10 was pretty fun. I haven't necessarily started looking for educational value in the game yet because I am still trying to get a hang of the controls and the game play. I have not started my franchise yet either, I have only been playing against my roommate. Turns out, I am pretty good at the game (at least better than my roommate). I really like the game play and the graphics are really good too. For this upcoming week, I intend to start my franchise and start to see how many of Gee's principles apply to the game. I expect to learn a lot each week and hopefully Gees ideas and principles will come in handy when determining the educational value of this game.

I am excited to start my franchise and hopefully I start learning quickly. I anticipate lots of hockey playing this week and hopefully I will get better at the game while learning at the same time.

Blog Week 1

I have chosen to play EA Sports' Nhl 10 for my video game this semester. I usually play Halo, Madden, or some sort of NBA game, so I thought it was a good idea to choose a new sport. I don't know much about hockey so I am looking forward to learning more about the sport.
Throughout the semester, I plan on creating my own franchise and developing my players, and hopefully make the playoffs. Aside from my franchise, I will also play against my friends in order to figure out if playing another human being requires different skills or strategies than playing the computer in my franchise.
I am excited to start playing Nhl 10 and to begin to discover the educational value that it might have. While I'm at it, I hope to win a couple Stanley Cups as well.
